PRAYER IS NOT AN OPTION (part 12) – Desire 1

O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice, and your face is lovely. – Song of Solomon 2:14
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the PRAYER OF THE UPRIGHT IS HIS DELIGHT. – Proverbs 15:8

Just think about that: That you bring Pleasure/Delight to God just by Praying
God loves it when His children spend time with Him: He longs to see our face, and He loves to hear our voice. He said, “Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” Wow!

There is PETITION in prayer, but that’s not all there is to prayer. Prayer is also for FELLOWSHIP : where you come to God not to make requests but to be with Him and enjoy the presence of the one your soul longs for. We were made for Him, that’s why the inner cravings of every man is God(although some don’t know this).

ONE MARK OF MATURITY IS WHEN YOUR PRAYER HAS OUGROWN PETITION INTO THE REALM OF FELLOWSHIP; where you don’t come to God because you need something but because you want to be with Him. That’s His delight.
Listen Beloved: Intentionally practice coming to God not to ask for things but to fellowship with him.
This is true: THE PROOF OF DESIRE IS IN THE PURSUIT. If you desire the Lord, you will pursue Him. It’s that simple.

James 4:8a
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…
How can you say you love the Lord and yet you won’t spend time with him. Who does that? How can you claim you want to know God but you don’t have time for His Word. You want to be used by God? There are no cutting corners here; STAY WITH HIM – LOVE TO FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM. Draw near to him and He will draw near to you. He has already sought you out – come to you – and come into you. Now He waits for you to open up to him so he fills you up. Praise God!
The thing about Desire is that you cannot fake it. You can pretend for a time to people and to yourself, but true desire will always show.

Understand that your fellowship time with the Lord is a seed. In heaven, the prayers of the saints are kept in vials for a memorial. They are never wasted. EVERY FELLOWSHIP TIME OF PRAYER IS A SEED SOWED TO THE SPIRIT.

But if you don’t have sincere desire for the Lord, you can’t sustain fellowship with him – You get fed up after few minutes with the Word and Prayer. Hence, if you find you are short in desire, don’t pretend – rather CULTIVATE THE DESIRE as Apostle Peter admonishes(1Pet 2:2). Ask the Lord to stir up desire and passion in you for Him. Then SPEND TIME with Him. Just stay there by discipline and the desire will build up gradually. Hallelujah! Glory to His Name.
