When the disciples asked to be taught ‘How to pray’, it’s interesting to me that Jesus actually taught them. He didn’t say the only way you learn how to pray is to pray. He taught them. The disciples were smart; they saw that Jesus got answers to his prayers but they didn’t, so they quickly wanted to learn how to be effective in their prayer as Jesus was, so they asked him.
And the first law of prayer Jesus taught them is to APPROACH THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD IN PRAYER.

Luke 11:2
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, OUR FATHER….
A lot of people do not get answers to their prayers because they approach God as a grudging and unwilling being from which requests have to be painfully extracted. They think God is angry with them because of their sins. They think God will not listen to them because of their mistakes. A thousand times NO. They don’t know who the father is. Please understand this, that GOD IS NOT ANGRY WITH YOU. HE IS YOUR FATHER. We have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

No matter what the child does, the father does not refuse to pay his fees; or starve her to death; or remove him from under his roof. True Father’s don’t do that. In prayer, don’t just come to him as God. Come to him as a child will approach A FATHER for what he wants – and you are assured to receive a fatherly response. Listen to Jesus:
Matthew 7:9-11
“Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
This is true:
THE CHILD OF GOD DOESN’T EVER HAVE TO BEG GOD FOR ANYTHING. Only if you understand the revelation of God as your father; Only if you know who you are in your father’s house.

Which of you as a child, wakes up in the morning and goes to beg your earthly father, “Daddy please give me breakfast. I beg you. Please Daddy. I beg you. Please daddy. Please Please.” Even earthly fathers don’t allow this, how much more your heavenly father who is Love. He knows what you need and he has made provisions for it already before you ever thought of it.

Jesus gave us a great revelation concerning getting our prayers answered: HE SAID, WHEN YOU PRAY, DON’T PRAY TO GOD, RATHER COME TO YOUR HEAVENLY DADDY. And your Rich Dad will meet all your needs. Let this settle in your heart deeply: HE IS MY ABBA FATHER. And hold that in your mind whenever you come to prayer. Glory to God!
