John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Christianity is not a religion. There is something that separates it from all the other world religions.
All the other world religions, is essentially men’s belief and adherence to a certain set of values. But Christianity is different:
IT IS THE LOVE AND NATURE OF GOD IMPARTED TO OUR SPIRITS SO THAT WE LIVE AS HIM. So Paul wrote,
“I am crucified with Christ: NEVERTHELESS I LIVE; YET NOT I, BUT CHRIST LIVETH IN ME: AND THE LIFE WHICH I NOW LIVE IN THE FLESH I LIVE BY THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Gal 2:20).
So you see? Christianity is not an external adherence to a set of rules. It is Jesus thinking through us, acting through us, unveiling himself to the world through us. The love of God has taken centre stage in our hearts and it’s meeting men’s needs with Jesus deeds. It’s amazing. We have become sons and daughters of love. We are the ones doing the deeds, but essentially it’s not us but Christ living in us, and living through us. Isn’t that beautiful?
So the song writer says, “Let the world see Jesus in your eyes. Show them love they can’t deny…”. That should be our daily chorus, for we are sons and daughters of love. Glooooory!
