1 Corinthians 9:25-27
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
What is the INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN and how does it come?
When you read the entire chapter of 1Cor 9, you will find that this crown is for those who because of the Gospel have denied themselves of their rights and sacrificed their comfort for the betterment of others;
It’s for those who have given themselves to the preaching of the gospel [at all cost], not out of compulsion but WILLINGLY;
It’s for those who condescend to the level of all men in order to win all kinds of people for the kingdom of God. I once read about the Morovian Brethren who sold themselves as slaves and became prisoners so that they can be able to preach the gospel to the African slaves in the Caribbean. WOW!
It’s for those who have subdued their flesh against its lusts by discipline. Like the pro athlete, they have learnt to sacrifice sleep, food and all pleasures for the sole purpose of winning the race. RECEIVE GRACE AND STRENGTH TO RUN THIS RACE SO AS TO OBTAIN THIS CROWN INCORRUPTIBLE IN JESUS NAME. Amen.
