1 Peter 5:2-4 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Finally, the 5th crown is the CROWN OF GLORY appointed unto the Elders,Bishops,Pastors, Overseers,Deacons,Presbyters, Shepherds of the Church Of Christ.
We just celebrated Father’s day and a lot of Pastors/Shepherds were celebrated – that’s a good thing.
This crown is for those who take the responsibility of feeding the flock and watching over them and caring for them as a shepherd watches over the sheep under his charge. We are EXAMPLES unto the flock to follow. These must do this work not by compulsion but willingly and out of love for the flock. Their motivation must not be for money or fame or gain.
There are 3 things Apostle Peter warns every shepherd to beware of in shepherding/pastoring others:
1. Don’t be forced/compulsed/coerced before you do it.
2. Don’t do it because of money or the profits you will get from the office.
3. Don’t be a dictator or tyrant or Lord over the flocks (it’s sad when you see how some Pastors have made themselves Lords over God’s flock)
Indeed, the truth is, there are many shepherds who will miss out on this crown because they do it for the money and with the wrong motivations. If you find yourself in a position to be a shepherd to the flock, do it diligently and for the right reasons- for when our Chief Shepherd shall appear, we shall receive a Crown Of Glory which doesn’t fade. Glooooory! I see God’s Glory all over you this week. Cheers beloved!
GRACEFUL MORNING
