Genesis 31:38-40 “I have been with you for twenty years now. Your sheep and goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten rams from your flocks. I did not bring you animals torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for whatever was stolen by day or night. This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes.”
Jacob was a very good shepherd, who assumed full responsibility of the flock under his care. He could beat his chest and say:
#None of the flock under my care had a miscarriage
#None was eaten as food by me
#None was lost or stolen which was not accounted for
Wow! Can all we shepherds say that concerning the flock in our charge? None miscarried, None eaten, None stolen.
I have heard stories of shepherds who eat their own flock. They take everything from the people until they have nothing, while the pastors have everything. What? ARE YOU A SHEPHERD OR A BEAST?
Jacob said, “This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes.”
Understand this:
The Shepherd is a Watchman – who is watchful and vigilant over his flock night and day. There are people who are saved today because we contended for their souls in prayer and would not sleep. DON’T SLEEP ON YOUR JOB. KEEP WATCH AND KEEP PRAYING, FOR PRAYER STILL WORKS. Hallelujah!
GRACEFUL MORNING
