Romans 6:17-19 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.
In trying to make the Gospel of Christ easy for people, we have diluted it’s power to save. We have in effect projected another gospel which is not another at all. We have tried to excuse people from the commitment of the Gospel whereas that is an essential part of their salvation. Salvation means DEATH to the old life, and ACCEPTANCE and AWAKENING to A NEW LIFE in Christ. Now that you have believed you have a new Lord, a new allegiance and a new way of living.
JESUS CANNOT BE YOUR SAVIOR WITHOUT BEING YOUR LORD. And Lordship always demands obedience.
But we don’t tell people that. We quickly rush people to “Accept Christ”, and they do it without understanding fully and without a commitment to the decision.
Consider this scenario:
I am in a car with a prostitute on her way to do prostitution. She asks me to pay her fare. I say, ‘I will pay it for you, but first I want you to give your life to Christ’. I tell her it’s easy and requires nothing. Whiles I’m talking she wants me to finish quickly so she can go; so she says yes to everything and I pray for her. She gets down and continues to her prostitution base. Was she converted? Did she even understand that quick message?
When we corner people to make an acceptance of Christ decision without proper understanding, repentance and conviction, are they really converted? I will leave you to answer that! Grace and Peace be multiplied unto you through Christ Jesus Our Lord. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
