As Christians, we are not only to pray in His name, but we are to SAY and DO EVERYTHING in his name. The word of God must ‘dwell richly’ or feel at home in the heart of the believer so much so that he does and says everything by the Word.
Colossians 3:16-17 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Indeed, herein is the supreme test of our ACTIONS and our WORDS.
The test for your actions is: WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING, CAN YOU DO IT CALLING UPON THE NAME OF JESUS?
The test for your words is: WHAT YOU ARE SAYING, CAN YOU SPEAK IT AND IN THE SAME BREATH NAME THE NAME OF JESUS?
If you can’t do this, then the word or deed failed the litmus test of his name. On the other hand, if you are able to bring every word and action of yours to the test of the presence of Jesus Christ, then you will never go wrong. This is how every believer must live – subjecting our every word or action to the litmus test of His name. Hallelujah! Go ahead and start practicing that in your own life today.
Christianity should not be confined to Sunday service or Wednesday midweek service, where we put on our best clothes and appear sanctimonious. Whatsoever we do in our daily activities must project Christ and give glory to God: Whether we eat or starve, whether we drink or thirst; When we bath, sleep, work, wash.. ad infinitum. EVERYTHING WE SAY OR DO, LET IT BE TO THE GLORY OF GOD. (1 Corinthians 10:31-33)
Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
This must not be a laborious and burdensome pursuit. Man was created to give pleasure to God. And many people, not knowing how to do this have resorted to religious rituals to please God. But look at how the flowers bloom, look at how the birds warble, look at how effortless the wind moves, look at the rivers…look at nature and you will see how everything in nature gives glory to God in their natural habitat. EVEN SO YOU, IN ALL YOU DO, LET IT BE TO THE GLORY OF GOD – FOR THAT’S YOUR NATURAL DISPOSITION.
Glory to God!
As we subject all our WORDS and ACTIONS to the litmus test of Jesus name, it affects our daily conducts and produce beautiful homes and relationships. When you read the passage from Colossians 3:16-25, you will see that Saying and Doing everything in His Name affects
The way the wife relates to her husband, and the husband to the wife;
It affects how children live with their parents, and how parents should talk to and act around children so as not to provoke them to wrath;
It affects how employees and employers must deal with each other;
It affects and colors everything in your life. It will make your life beautiful.
Henceforth, don’t just open your mouth and say anything that comes to mind. And don’t just take any action. FIRST ASK YOURSELF, ‘WHAT WOULD JESUS SAY? WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?’ Because Colossians 3:23 explains that,
“Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”
What ever service you are giving to man, see it as service to God first and foremost; For the Lord sees it, receives it and will reward you accordingly. Hallelujah!
