Romans 8:12-13 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

This is how the regenerated man, born into the Spirit is supposed to live:

LIVE AFTER THE SPIRIT AND NOT AFTER THE FLESH. You are a child of God, with the nature and DNA of God in you. You’ve got to express that Nature by walking according to that nature.

Understand that, you can only MORTIFY or PUT TO DEATH the desires and misdeeds of the old man(flesh) THROUGH THE SPIRIT. You won’t do this by swearing and making promises: “Lord, I won’t watch this pornography again” or “I promise, I won’t fornicate with that guy again”. Hahahaa! You should know by now that, those resolutions and promises don’t work. You don’t have the strength in your humanity for that. You can sustain it for a few moments, then you are back to it. Hear this very well, Child of God:

THE FLESH CAN ONLY BE MORTIFIED THROUGH THE SPIRIT.

This is why, the things of the Spirit, like staying long in prayer are so crucial for the believer. These are not mere religious practices. The impulses of the flesh are shed off in an atmosphere of the Spirit through prayer, especially continuous long prayer sessions. These are spiritual realities I am exposing you unto.

So you will greatly help yourself when you put yourself in these kinds of atmosphere of the Spirit. That is why you don’t pray by feeling. Even if you don’t feel like it, please just be there, for it is THROUGH THE SPIRIT THAT YOU WILL MORTIFY THE FLESH.

Hallelujah! I pray for you, that the Lord will grant you the strength and endurance to put yourself and STAY continuously in the atmosphere of the Spirit.  May He guide your steps into His presence, and may you overcome all the battles of the flesh in Jesus name. Amen and Amen.
