Luke 14:16-20 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’ “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
What EXCUSES do we make for our inability to respond to the callings of God? And I am not talking about Pastors – for every believer has a unique calling from the Lord. Why don’t you work out your salvation? What makes you unready?
PROPERTY . One said, “I have bought a land”. Our pursuit of worldly pleasure and acquisitions. A man can spend all his time acquiring properties and neglect the essential matters of his spirit. But what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and lose his soul? What? Selah.
WORK . Another one said, “I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out”. In the busyness of life and work, we may have no time to work on our own spiritual development, thereby affecting our Eternity negatively. Why is it that, you have no time for prayer, for the word, for soul winning, for kingdom building? All because your work takes all your time. Is it worth your eternity?
FAMILY . And another said, ‘I have recently married a wife, and for that reason I am unable to come.’ Marriage and family is a good thing. It was created by God to help you, not to take you away from Him. If you have no time for growth and for God because of family there is something wrong somewhere. And you need to wake up from slumber.
BELOVED, STOP MAKING THE EXCUSES – YOUR ETERNITY IS AT STAKE. Praise God Forevermore.
GRACEFUL MORNING
