Matthew 25:5-8 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
Like those VIRGINS, all believers have been ENGAGED to Jesus Christ and are awaiting His(bridegroom’s) return for the marriage. But incidentally, the bridegroom takes long in coming. In fact, a lot of us will say, ‘JESUS HAS BEEN TOO SLOW IN RETURNING.’ One gentleman jokingly opined to me, “If Jesus was even coming back on a bicycle, shouldn’t he have arrived after 2000 years?” LOL.
Well, you will be amazed that one of the reasons why our Lord’s return has prolonged is US – our own unpreparedness and unreadiness. That’s why the Bible says in, 2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
We must make ourselves ready; we must grow in the Lord; We must reach the unreached with this Gospel of Christ; We must push it with our money, with our time, and with our everything. You regard Jesus’ return as ‘slow’, because He is extraordinarily patient and longsuffering so that more people will come to repentance. Wow!
For it is when this gospel of the kingdom is preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, the Bible says, then the END WILL COME.(Matthew 24:14). HALLELUJAH!
GRACEFUL MORNING
