John 12:3-5 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then Judas said, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
Mary broke and poured an ointment worth 300 pence on Jesus’ feet. That is by today’s standards, A WHOLE YEAR’S SALARY. But that is nothing compared to the LOVE He shows us. I tell you, You would do more than Mary did, the day you properly comprehend of the length, the breadth, the depth, and the height of the Love Of God which is in Christ Jesus.
Then comes Judas with his complaints. He said,
“Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?” Don’t we hear people make similar complaints today about Church Givings and Offerings. You can spend a lot of money at funerals, night clubs, pubs and football games and there will be no problems, but the moment you give tithes or give to a pastor or church you hear all kinds of complaints and accusations. Why?
Someone said to me the other day, “Don’t you think you guys take this Jesus thing too seriously? ” I smiled and said to him, “OF COURSE WE DO, Jesus also took me pretty seriously when He gave up all and died on the cross for me. Don’t you think so??”
To some of us, this “Jesus Thing” is REALLY REALLY PERSONAL. He gave His life for us and nothing we will ever do can repay that. Let me ask you this: How Personal is Jesus to you? JESUS MY PERSONAL PERSON! Hallelujah!
GRACEFUL MORNING
