Acts 4:18-20 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Truth be told, the cost of obedience to Jesus is going to be more on others than on us. As obedient children, OBEYING your Lord might be a delight to you but sometimes it leaves a bitter taste or experience upon our loved ones – who suffer the immediate temporal sting of our obedience. The question then is, SHOULD WE OBEY GOD AND LET THOSE WE LOVE SUFFER? OR SHOULD WE DISOBEY GOD AND STOP THEIR SUFFERING?
Growing up in a pagan home, when I found Jesus (or rather when Jesus found me), I made a decision of surrender to the Lord, and of course that meant a disappointment and pain for my father who wanted me to follow after his idol ways. And it meant even more pain for my mother who had to suffer consistent abuse and insults because of my decision. I know that most of you will have your own stories of what your obedience to the Lord cost those you loved and cared about.
Should I have retracted and turned back in order to please those members of my family who were suffering due to my obedience for Christ? Should you obey God, or would you disobey God so as to end the suffering of your loved ones?
Peter and John’s answer to that when they were faced with a similar situation is in the anchor text above. They said,
“Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to Him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Child of God, PLEASE GOD AND LEAVE HIM TO COMFORT THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN PAINED BY YOUR OBEDIENCE TO HIM. Or would you rather please man and displease your God? I guess you will be the best judge!
Have a blessed day Dear in Jesus name. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
