Proverbs 13:24 AMPC He who spares his rod [of discipline] hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines diligently and punishes him early.
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
Love rebukes and applies pain to train a child, sometimes. Because he who loves his son disciplines diligently and punishes him early.
It’s generally called TOUGH LOVE. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “tough love” as ‘love or affectionate concern expressed in a stern or unsentimental manner (as through discipline) especially to promote responsible behavior’
Beating a son or daughter and seeing them cry is not enjoyable to both parties. But the father who wishes to help his son will not spare the rod. One child asked his father, “Daddy, if you don’t enjoy beating me, and I also don’t enjoy being beaten, why are we doing this?” LOL!
But the Bible says in Proverbs 23:13-14 that the beating and pain is for the saving of his soul:
‘Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die. You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell.’
So you see, applying pain and allowing some kinds of suffering is an act of love from a father who wishes to save a child. Or what would you rather do? Would you spare the rod and rather see your child destroyed? If you saw a deadly insect, crawling into the ears of a friend and the quickest solution is to slap her and remove the danger, wouldn’t you do it? Selah! Have a blissful weekend in Jesus name. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
