I Corinthians 1:10,12-13 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I AM OF CHRIST.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
One fine gentleman from Nigeria commented on one of my posts from last week, in which I taught how ALL PASTORS ARE YOURS and that it was narrow-minded to take sides. He said, “None of those Pastors are mine. Only Christ is mine.”
This is a very common and risky error that many well meaning believers who in trying to be non-denominational are also being sectarian and divisive. The Bible doesn’t only condemn those who say, “I am of Paul” or “I am of Apollos”, or “I am of Peter”. It equally condemns those who say, “I am of Christ”. Is that not amazing to see?
How does saying “You are of Christ” make you sectarian or factional? By saying, YOU are of Christ, do YOU mean to say your other brethren who are in a denomination are not of Christ? And that you are better than them? If that’s what you mean, then you too are being factional – you are creating the denomination of Christ without knowing, which is also divisive. But Christ is not divided at all. The key is to know no man after the flesh and see people the way God sees them.
YOU WOULD HAVE GROWN UP FROM CARNALITY WHEN YOU STOP SEEING OTHER BRETHREN BY THEIR TRIBE, RACE, CLASS, CULTURE OR DENOMINATIONS.
Hallelujah to His Name!
GRACEFUL MORNING
