1 Corinthians 12:22-26 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
The scriptures have said,
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:15
As ONE BODY we have to sympathize with one another, and rejoice with one another. The person who cannot see beyond his or her own organization and denomination is truly blinded to our ONENESS IN BODY.
I remember when the CCI church in Ghana got ravaged in fire, I was so burdened in heart and was praying for them. When a popular Man of God was in the news and the whole nation seemed to be against him, I couldn’t sleep – I was up at midnight praying for him. I am not in his denomination but I felt the burden. That is how you fulfill the law of Christ in the Body by bearing one another’s burdens(Gal 6:2)
If churches in Nigeria are being bombed and terrorists kidnapping and killing believers don’t concern you, then you really have to check whether you are properly joined to the BODY OF CHRIST. If there is attack on the church in Afghanistan and you don’t feel the need to pray for them then there is a problem somewhere.
If you are truly joined to this ONE BODY, you will feel the pain that the body feels irrespective of organization or denomination or nationality. It was Plato who said, “We do not say my finger has a pain,” we say, “I have a pain”.
We are ONE BODY IN CHRIST – understand what that means and take your place as a living member of the body. Grace and Peace be multiplied unto you through Jesus Christ our Lord and head of the Body. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
