Ecclesiastes 1:7-8 All the rivers run into the sea, Yet the sea is not full; To the place from which the rivers come, There they return again. All things are full of labor; Man cannot express it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, Nor the ear filled with hearing.
What is man looking for? Why do we keep going for new inventions? Why do we keep changing our wardrobes and never get satisfied? In one moment, we set up our room decor and are satisfied with it, in another moment we are discontented with it, and change everything again. Why?
Why does the drinker and the smoker keep thirsting for that substance that destroys his lungs. Why does the young man jump from one woman to the next lusting for sex which can last a short time and the lusting begins again. What is man looking for?
The King, Solomon set out on a quest to find answers to these and make meaning of life on this Earth – without the Spirit, without God:
He tried all kinds of women: the white, yellow and black. He tried to gratify the flesh with wine and beautiful things…He tried all kinds of inventions with earthly wisdom to no avail. He amassed for himself wealth and possessions. He played with folly to see if it was any different- It was not.
THEN HE SAID,
Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done And on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed ALL WAS VANITY AND GRASPING FOR THE WIND. Eccl 2:11
He came to one conclusion: It is a chasing after the wind: YOU WILL NEVER ATTAIN IT. Why? Because man is in search of ETERNITY and that eternity can only be found in the Eternal God who can only be contacted through CHRIST JESUS. The conclusion of the matter is, EVERY MAN NEEDS JESUS.
GRACEFUL MORNING
