Matthew 7:3-5 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Jesus gives us another striking reason why we should not judge others. He said it is like a man who has not yet removed a log of timber in his own eyes, but yet seems eager to remove a little speck of sawdust from his neighbour’s eyes. The scenario is very funny and laughable at the same time.
In other words, Jesus is saying, ONLY THE FAULTLESS HAS THE RIGHT TO LOOK FOR FAULTS IN OTHERS. It’s just like the story of the adulteress woman in John 8. When the scribes and Pharisees brought her to Jesus, claiming to have caught her in the act and ready to stone her, Jesus responded and said,
“He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” The Bible says, they all left one by one starting from the oldest to the youngest one. And rightly so, because THERE WAS NONE WITHOUT FAULTS AMONG THEM, AND THERE IS STILL NONE AMONG US TODAY WITHOUT FAULT.
The unmistakable lesson Jesus was teaching is that, NO MAN IS GOOD ENOUGH TO BE A JUDGE OVER HIS FELLOW MAN. That is why true judgement belongs to the Lord who executes it through the Holy Spirit.
Pray for your brethren who are found in some fault; lend a helping hand if you can; but leave the judgement to God. Don’t make yourself judge where God has not made you one; and don’t be a hypocrite. Hallelujah!
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend for you in Jesus name. Say Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
