Hebrews 12:5-6 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives. This is the CHASTENING or DISCIPLINE of the Lord. The Greek word is Paideuoo, and the whole idea of it is for the TRAINING of a child. This chastening can be done in 3 ways:
● Chasten with WORDS
● Chasten with circumstances/situations
● Chasten with blows/beatings
Whichever method of chastening is employed, the end result is the training of the child. Don’t lose sight of that.
I have found that, like every loving father, the Lord doesn’t delight in training anyone with beatings or with circumstances. God’s primary way of chastening us is with words. As in 2 Timothy 2:25:
in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth
But we know that, ALL CHILDREN ARE NOT THE SAME. There are children who will learn by instruction in righteousness, but there are others who instructions won’t change. Other methods of training might help; this is when situations or circumstances are employed. If that fails, blows or beatings are used. The method essentially depends on the child.
What kind of ‘Child of God’ are you? Do you learn by instructions, or by circumstances, or by beatings? Selah!
Have a wonderful weekend in Jesus name. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
