I Corinthians 11:31-32 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
The CHASTENING of the Lord is not sweet, which operation is? Yet it’s a necessary requirement which will save you from further damage.
It’s just like the patient who has a cancerous lump in her breast and must undergo a surgical operation to remove it. I bet you, there’s nothing enjoyable about that operation, when she is put under the cutting knives and incisions of the doctors. But she needs that, if her life will be saved from this impending danger.
In fact, when you see the doctors cutting her with multiple knives, they don’t mean to do her harm; it’s rather an act of love – to help and save her. So is the CHASTISEMENT of the Lord. That is why the Lord Jesus said, “AS MANY AS I LOVE, I REBUKE AND CHASTEN.”
What happens to the patient who has some lump in her body but refuses to be subjected to the SURGICAL OPERATION of the doctor? That lump might grow bigger and end up killing her. Nobody likes taking bitter medicine, but the medication that will heal you is often bitter. Hence the admonition:
‘My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.’ (Proverbs 3:11-12)
Don’t despise chastening, as a child of God; it will be painful, but it’s an expression of love, and an agency of remedial unto you, for your own salvation from danger. Hallelujah! Have a glorious end of week in Jesus name. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
