Matthew 5:44-47 [44] But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, [45] that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. [46] For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? [47] And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
YOUR GOODNESS TO OTHERS SHOULD NOT BE BECAUSE SOMEONE DESERVES IT OR NOT, IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE YOU HAVE GOODNESS IN YOUR NATURE. And a man cannot deny himself.
This is the quality that makes God remain faithful even when we are unfaithful to him. It’s like the wife who says because the husband has cheated she will also commit adultery as a response. But your husband’s adultery should not make you an adulteress, if you are not one. As a child of God, your goodness and kindness must not be based on the other person but on the goodness in your heart.
What is godly and admirable about a believer who enters her office space and only greets selected people and ignores the rest. She might say, those people don’t deserve it. They don’t greet her or don’t even respond to her greeting. But your greeting them is not because they deserve it but because of the Godly goodness in your heart. This is why Jesus asked,
“And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the pagans do so?”
Beloved, be ye kind, compassionate and good, even as your heavenly Father is. Let the Christ in your heart shine forth for the world to see. BE THE JESUS THAT YOUR NEIGHBORS WILL SEE TODAY. Have a wonderful weekend in Jesus name. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
