Matthew 14:28-30
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
This is almost always why men sink in the storms of life: WHEN WE TAKE OUR EYES OFF JESUS AND HIS WORD AND START LOOKING AT THE STORMS, WE SINK. So long as Peter’s eyes were fixed on Jesus, he was walking on the water. I am sure he didn’t think about it twice. Jesus had said to him, “Come Peter”. And he simply obeyed the Word of the master, and started walking on water. He only started sinking when he took his eyes off Jesus and started looking at the boisterous wind. He started thinking to himself: “What am I doing? I am on water. Oh my God, I am going to sink!” Then immediately he began to sink. What word of faith have you received from God and from his Word. Hold on to it. Stop looking and listening and watching the wrong things – they will only feed your fears. Keep your gaze on Jesus, and Jesus alone. Your trust shouldn’t be in any man, or in anything. KEEP YOUR EYES FIXED ON JESUS AND YOU WON’T SINK. Glooooory!
