Matthew 10:41-42 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
I want you to see that there’s a difference between receiving a prophet’s reward and receiving a righteous man’s reward and receiving a reward.
And the difference lies in the motivation behind what you do. Doing good and being kind to a servant of God because he is a servant of God qualifies you for a servant of God’s reward. There’s such a thing as A PASTOR’S REWARD, A PROPHET’S REWARD, AN EVANGELIST’S REWARD…etc; And you qualify yourself to share in those rewards when you GIVE to help that work or that office. Being kind to someone because he/she is a righteous man or a fellow believer opens you up for a BELIEVER’S REWARD, which is not the same as a Pastor’s reward. And there’s a different reward for being kind to others who are not believers as well. These are not the same, and you must understand the technical differences.
Always ensure that YOUR HEART sets the right reason and motivation for what you do. Why are you being kind to that boy? Is it so that when he grows up he can also help you? Is it for public acclaim? Is it because it’s the right thing to do? Is it for Christ’s sake? What is your motivation? Your deepest and truest motivations are in your heart, irrespective of what you tell us it is; And God records that one.
May this week bring you much joy and laughter in Jesus name. Hallelujah! Amen!
