I Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the  poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

I Corinthians 16:14 Let all that you do be done with love.

Yes, LOVE GIVES; but not all giving is by love. Some people give in such a rude and unlovely way, that their gifts become repulsive.

You may give all you have to the poor and yet it is not out of love. You could give your body to be burned and yet that act is not out of love. It matters what drives your giving, and it matters how you do your giving. You have heard that, “The end justifies the means”, but it’s not so in God’s kingdom, THE MEANS IS EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT AS THE END.

A husband can give to his wife and to his children in  such a way that his giving becomes a curse instead of a blessing. He throws the money or object of giving to them  like the way you will throw a bone to an ugly smelly dog, and say, “there, take it”. There is no glory or profit in giving like that. You are better off keeping that money to yourself. So Romans 14:16 says, ‘Let not your good be evil spoken of.’ Yes, you can do a good deed, but the manner in which you do it makes it evil.

This is why you have to learn HOW TO GIVE just as much as you learn why and what to give. Some people do not know how to give to the Lord; they can squeeze the offering and throw it into the offering bowl like they are giving to a beggar and they wonder why they don’t see the rewards of their Tithe and offerings. Give in a kingly way to the Lord because God is King.
