Although a lot of people find prayer a difficult and tedious work, yet PRAYER is and should be as natural and normal as walking or sleeping or breathing is, not only to the Christian but to all men. Simply put, you can’t survive without it. The trouble is that many do not understand what prayer really is. And many more don’t like to pray because they are not effective in prayer because they have not been taught how to pray effectively. So after they have tried a few times and had no results, they give up. But sincerely in their hearts they want to pray. You know what I am saying is true.
This is so because, I have observed, surprisingly, that prayer is a natural instinct that everybody does. Have you realised, that when faced with difficult times in life, everyone’s heart cries for help in prayer to one god or the other; even the atheist do it in their heart. Just wait till there is an impending accident on a bus or on a plane and you will see all kinds of people saying all kinds of prayers to God. But prayer should not be only when in crisis. NOO. It must be your way of life, because you were made that way – to pray.
This is why Jesus made a remarkable statement about prayer:
Luke 18:1
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
Why did Jesus teach that, “MEN OUGHT ALWAYS TO PRAY”? Meaning, it’s a MUST. You need it; you can’t do without it in the same way you can’t do without breathing. It’s not an option. This is truly amazing. But why is that the case?
I will tell you. It’s because MAN IS A SPIRIT WHOSE SOURCE IS GOD(the Father of spirits). You came from God and your life can only be SUSTAINED by continuous connection/contact with the source. It’s more like how your phone looses the ability to function and will die if not connected to it’s power source.
Understand this Beloved,
PRAYER IS YOUR CONNECTION TO YOUR SOURCE, AND IT MUST BE CONSTANT AND DAILY. Praise God forevermore!
You ask, “Why must I pray”? Your constant contact with God is what will sustain you and boost you up and keep you at an optimal level to function. What happens when your phone’s battery goes beyond 5%? You start loosing some of the functionalities: the screen dims, some apps won’t run, etc.
It’s so alarming why the believer will be avoiding prayer. No wonder a lot of believers are weakly and beggarly in life. You, who are more than a conqueror in this life is being whipped all day long by the circumstances of life. Why? You are soo disconnected from your source because you won’t pray. You have the features and abilities yet they won’t function because you are so low. How long do you want to continue like this? GET UP INTO PRAYER, CHILD OF GOD. You are so blessed of God to hear this. Glory to God!
