HAVE YOU BEEN TAUGHT HOW TO PRAY? We have seen that the reason why some do not pray is not that they hate prayer but because they do not understand what prayer really is. So they don’t have the appetite for it. And others too have not been taught how to pray – so their prayer doesn’t work because they pray wrongly and hence they give up after few tries.
This is one of the reasons why God’s children need to be taught God’s word. It’s so important. This is the importance of Pastors and Teachers to the body – because if you are not taught it, how can you function in it.

Luke 11:1-2
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name…
But if prayer is a natural instinct and not an acquired art, why must I be taught how to pray? Why can’t I just pray perfectly? Well, the fact that something is a natural instinct doesn’t mean it will be done right. Sleeping is a natural instinct yet there is a wrong way and a right way to sleep. You need to be taught else you will end up having back and neck problems from your sleeping. Same with walking, sitting, breathing, et cetera. These are all natural instincts but you can be doing them wrongly if you are not taught the right way to do them. Do you know that a lot of people have chronic back problems because of their sitting postures? They have not been taught how to sit rightly.

I want you to understand that YOU NEED TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO PRAY and get ready for it. Infact, we need to be taught everything. A man could posses a very precious tool and yet it will be of no use if he’s not taught how to use it effectively. Have you ever had a gadget or device given to you and it was worthless in your hands because you didn’t know how to use it?
Pastor James said, many people don’t receive answers to their prayers because they pray amiss(James 4:2,3) – they don’t know the right way to pray. Is it possible that you are not receiving answers to your Prayer because you are not praying in the right way? Prayer is an extremely powerful tool in the hands of the believer if we learn how to use it well. Which is why the Lord will be showing us the laws of prayer by the Spirit…
Humble yourself therefore, and ask the Lord, like the disciples did, LORD, TEACH ME HOW TO PRAY. You are so blessed. Glory to God.
