John 3:1-4 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
I find it very worrying the kind of Gospel that tells people it doesn’t matter what they do, and that they only need to believe in Jesus. It’s true that salvation is by Believing in Christ alone (Solus Christus). And many take that to mean you can believe and be saved and go back to whatever life you were in before. No, Not so brother! That would be inconsistent with the very meaning of SALVATION. That scenario is what Jesus describes as a dog going back to its vomit; How grotesque!
What that kind of Gospel produces is what I have called “false converts” – People whom we claim have been converted, but who in reality have not. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO YOU ARE, IF YOU HAVE A TRUE ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS, IT WILL CHANGE YOU.
This is what we mean by BORN AGAIN. The ‘old you’ will be terminated and a new you will be recreated. Something must give way in you. Nicodemus got this, howbeit in a carnal way, when he asked Jesus,
“Can a man enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” (John 3:4)
Because that’s what really happens when someone is born again – YOU ARE RECREATED ANEW IN THE WOMB OF THE SPIRIT BY FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.
In essence, this is what I am saying:
NOBODY REMAINS THE SAME AFTER A TRUE ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS. IF YOU REMAIN THE SAME, THEN WE MUST ASK THE QUESTION, WHETHER IT IS JESUS CHRIST YOU MET. Shalom unto you!
GRACEFUL MORNING
