2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:6‭-‬8‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Many times when we say “give and ye shall receive”, the mind quickly goes to money. But money is not the only substance you can give. When generosity is your life, you will practice giving in all things, and you will receive back in same proportion.

You can give KNOWLEDGE. Indeed God’s word enjoins every child of God to teach others what you have been taught. That’s what the great commission demands of you and I in Matthew 28:18,19. One sure way you can increase in the knowledge of Christ is to eagerly teach others what you know.

You can give PRAYER. The prayer of the altruistic child of God is mainly filled with intercessions for others. If you never go on your needs to pray for others who are not necessarily your immediate family then you have not properly learnt the way of Christ. If your prayer all the time is about you and your needs then there is a problem. Learn to give prayers to people in need.

You can give your TIME. If no one shows up when you need them, then you should pause and reflect whether you are one who gives time and attention to others. When Jesus said, “when I was in prison you didn’t visit me”, that’s what he was alluding to. Sometimes you just have to be there for people, and spend good time with them. Don’t drown yourself in the busyness of life and miss out on the essentials of fellowship and companionship.

Give a HELPING HAND when you can. Give a KIND WORD. Don’t injure people with your words. I have found in life, that the injury caused by words is much painful than the ones caused by sticks and stones. Determine to let your words bless and not harm people. These are the tenets that makes one like Christ. True, Christianity is by the belief in your heart, but what is in your heart always comes out by your words and deeds. BE A GIVER IN THIS LIFE, AND YOU WILL NEVER LACK ANY GOOD THING. Amen!
