1 Peter 4:12-14
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
Peter said, “Don’t consider it strange” the trial and persecution and abuse you will receive because you are affiliated to Christ. Infact, he says you should EXPECT IT.
Why? Because in being treated like that, you have become a partaker of Christ’s suffering. So that you will also partake in the glory which shall be revealed in the end.
So
“If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”
Have you ever been insulted, abused, reproached for the name of Christ’s sake? Then BLESSED ARE YOU. Have you suffered some things or been denied some opportunities and privileges because you are a Christian? Some Christians are ashamed of their affiliation with Christ when they are in certain places. And they hide their identity to avoid discomfort or shame. Are you such a Christian? Do you deny your Christ because of impending reproach or you boldly embrace it? The scriptures have said,
BLESSED ARE YE, IF YE BE REPROACHED FOR THE NAME OF CHRIST. Glooooory!
