Matthew 25:2‭-‬4 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

Now, what made the 5 virgins wise, and what made the other 5 foolish?

First and foremost, they all had their lambs with oil in it. OIL IN THEIR LAMPS refers to the presence of the Holy Spirit in them for salvation. For the Bible says in Romans 8:9,

“.. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Romans 8:9

So both the wise and the foolish virgins had oil in their lamps, meaning they had the Holy Spirit in them and hence were saved. But the Bible says, the wise virgins had EXTRA OIL in extra jars.

‘For when the foolish took their lamps, they did not take any [extra] oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil along with their lamps.’ AMP

What does it mean to have EXTRA OIL? This points to all the activities of the spirit like prayer, beholding the Word of God, keeping a spiritual environment, spiritual songs, winning souls, etc that keeps you fervent in the spirit and helps you to be CONSTANTLY FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT unto maturity.

The foolish ones are the ones who are saved, sanctified and satisfied. They are the ones that erroneously think GRACE is an allowance to live anyhow. They are born again, but they live like unbelievers on the ticket of Grace. Friend, you might not see it today, the cost of your reckless living, until the door is shut in your face.
