1 John 2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
In the English language, when someone says ‘you have something’, what does it mean? Is it a past, present, or future occurrence? Does it mean you are now going to get it when you do something? The scriptures tell us that we have received forgiveness, not that we are going to be forgiven. We already have been forgiven in Christ.
So now, the question becomes WHEN WERE WE FORGIVEN? Is it when we confess our sins?
When Christ suffered for sin and died for it, we also suffered and died because we were in him through identification. So the day you believed the salvation message of Christ, all that Christ did was credited into your account vitally. Hallelujah.
“To him give all the prophets witness, that THROUGH HIS NAME WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL RECEIVE REMISSION OF SINS.” – Acts 10:43
That day you believed and gave your life to Jesus was the day all your sins were vitally forgiven ETERNALLY (past, present, future sins). Praise God – So you have eternal forgiveness even for the wrong you might do tomorrow.
Does that mean that the born again believer is free to do anything since he has obtained ETERNAL FORGIVENESS in Christ? No. The GRACE of God is not a license to sin more, but a grounds to forsake sin. It’s a great blessing from God that you have been forgiven and you shouldn’t abuse it. It is not because you are so beautiful or because you wept profusely and confessed your sins. FORGIVENESS OF SINS is a free gift from God, beloved, and you have been given it because Jesus loved you. Hallelujah!
GRACEFUL MORNING
