Genesis 33:12-14 Then Esau said, “Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you.” But Jacob said to him, “My Lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die. Please let my Lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, are able to endure, until I come to my Lord in Seir.”
When Jacob left Laban to return home, he was met on the road by his brother Esau who after welcoming him wanted to ride with him together, but Jacob being a good shepherd and knowing very well the roughness and rashness of his brother replied,
“My Lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die.”
The Good Shepherd must know the capacity and elasticity of each member of his flock. You must know how far each person can go, and how much they can take.
For instance, YOU DON’T GIVE SOLID FOOD TO INFANTS.
“I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; – I Corinthians 3:2″
It’s not every message that you preach to everybody. There are some messages, although good, yet when preached to some people at some level will be destroying their faith rather than building it. When you feed babes with solid food instead of milk, you are harming them instead of building them. And yet, the shepherd must be very skilled to know when to start introducing them to solid food. It is a very delicate operation that needs precision in execution.
Pray for your Shepherd. We need it very much. Be blessed!
GRACEFUL MORNING
