Philippians 2:13-15 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.
Which of you gentlemen, will like to stand on your wedding day, having your bride with all kinds of spots and eczema and wrinkles on her face? And which of you ladies will want to be looking like that on your wedding day? Even on your ordinary dates, you try to look your best for it, right?
The Greek word used here is “AMOMOS” and it simply means “without blemish”, “without fault”. Under Jewish law, before an animal is offered as a sacrifice, it is inspected by the priests, and if any defect or blemish is found, it is rejected as unfit as an offering to God. Because ONLY THE BEST IS FIT TO OFFER TO GOD.
This is the same concept applied to the would-be Bride of Christ. She must be AMOMOS.
See how the AMPLIFIED Bible puts it,
‘so that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish in the midst of a [morally] crooked and [spiritually] perverted generation, among whom you are seen as bright lights [beacons shining out clearly] in the world [of darkness]’
Don’t justify your defects and weaknesses. God wants us(the Church) to be so perfected in our morality and conduct, such that there will be no single defect or weakness in us, so that we will shine brightly as beacons of light unto this dark world. Hallelujah! Glory to God! Give Him Praise!
