1 Corinthians 2:12 “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1 Corinthians 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
Most often, the things most Christians pray to God for are things He has already given us in Christ Jesus. This makes the request meaningless. Those requests are usually born out of unbelief, which is due to ignorance mostly.
It’s like you have a little boy who has asked you for a new shoe for the new academic term which begins next 2 weeks. You assured him that you have new shoes for him. In fact, before he asked, you already knew that your son needs a new pair of shoes and have already ordered one for him, which arrives in a couple of days. Because your boy doesn’t see the shoes, he comes to you everyday asking the same thing and crying over it. “Mummy please I need new shoes. Please mummy”. After sometime, these requests and cries become irritating because you have already made provisions for his new shoe. He needs to stop crying and begging for what you have already provided.
The picture of that little boy is not so different from what most of us Christians do with God. Most of our “prayer requests” are like that. We cry over what God has already made provisions for – not knowing what we have been given.
That’s why the Apostle said,
“that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” STOP THE IRRITATING CRIES AND PRAYERS AND MAKE EFFORT TO KNOW WHAT GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN YOU IN CHRIST JESUS. Hallelujah! You are blessed!
GRACEFUL MORNING
