Jeremiah 5:4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
After gaining an understanding about a certain principle, that’s not all. One must be able to apply the principle, else it is of no use at all.
Consider our earlier mathematical problem, f(x)=3x^2−2x+5. You might have studied differential calculus, but you must be able to APPLY the calculus to this particular problem to get a solution else your understanding is inadequate. Haven’t you been in an exams hall, and there’s a concept or principle you have studied, but yet, you cannot answer the given question on that same concept? This shows that, while the methods or principles for solving every problem has been figured out, you have got to be able to WORK IT OUT in your specific case. The principles are there, but you have got to APPLY THEM to your particular situation.
The first essential thing is to understand the principle and how it works. The second—and even more important thing— is to WORK IT OUT or APPLY that understanding to the problem in hand. Or else, you have no solution.
This is why, when it comes to even your salvation, the Bible tells you to WORK IT OUT.
Philippians 2:12b,
“…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
Even though Jesus has accomplished it for you, you must learn how to APPLY it to all facets of your life. The eternal life that Jesus procured for you, you must learn how to UTILIZE it and make it EFFECTUAL in your very life, else you would live as one that has not received salvation – you will be terrorized by sin, poverty, disease, and demons. But you are saved in Christ. So what is the problem? YOU HAVE NOT LEARNT TO WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION.
I will tell you this, EVEN THOUGH IT AFFECTS OTHERS, YOUR CHRISTIANITY IS A VERY PERSONAL MATTER – a lot depends on how well you can work out your own salvation. Shalom and peace be unto you through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
GRACEFUL MORNING
