We have spoken a lot on petition in prayer – where you talk to the Lord about your needs. But prayer is not a monologue; it’s a DIALOGUE. After you have poured out your heart to him, you have to keep silent and listen to Him.

Unfortunately, that’s where a lot of us miss it. We’ve not been properly trained on this. We come to God and talk and talk and talk, then we leave. We have no time to listen to His response and receive what He has for us. Imagine you going to have a dialogue/meeting with your earthly father or teacher or boss. Do you just talk and then get up and leave? NO. You always listen to their response. Why then don’t we listen to God?
This is a very important part of prayer:

Habakkuk 2:20
But the Lord is in his holy temple: LET ALL THE EARTH KEEP SILENCE BEFORE HIM.

Isaiah 40:31
But THEY THAT WAIT upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

WAIT – to stay in a place until an expected event happens; To tarry.
In the kingdom of God, if you want to mount up wings and fly, what you must do is WAIT. It’s a strange kingdom with strange ways of doing things. Whereas people are hustling and bustling trying to make ends meet; Some are struggling and moving up and down in order to advance in life. The Lord says it’s not so with you the child of God.

IF YOU WANT TO FLY, LEARN TO WAIT UPON THE LORD. But how can I make progress when I am just waiting?

Yes, just wait in his presence. For it is in your waiting period that the Lord fills you with supernatural grace and activates the flight mechanism in you. Let others take the lead, because when your flight takes off, it will be an extreme overtaking. You are not just going to walk faster, YOU WILL FLY.

We have a low view of prayer if we think prayer is a means of merely telling God what we want him to do. Prayer is LISTENING even more than it is talking; it is a FELLOWSHIP, A SHARING, AN EXCHANGE.

In silence we wait and listen to hear what our Lord wants us to do.
Remember the 4th law of prayer we considered? God always knows best so seek his will in prayer. As you learn to still yourself in his presence, the Lord will impress on your heart through the spirit what He wants done in your life. Don’t rush it – WAIT ON HIM. Someone said, “Lord, you have 5 minutes, speak quickly and let me go.” Hahaaa – That’s funny. Well, maybe you don’t say it like that, but that’s what we do. We have no time to tarry with Him.

Learn to make time and wait on the Lord, for that’s how you will soar. Hallelujah!
