John 16:1-3 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
There are the ‘Religious zealots’ who will seem to be the ‘Righteous’ persecuting others, but they are not. Scripture says, “they will think that they are doing God service”. But they are not. Just read a little about the INQUISITION in Church history and you will see what terrible things the church has done in the name of God.
Out of sheer ignorance, misplaced zeal and self righteousness they will be all over the place(on the internet, in videos, on the streets, in books, et al) persecuting the church of the living God, wrongly thinking they are doing God’s work. Isaiah calls them “The Holier than Thou’s”. Paul was such a person before he met Jesus. He himself said:
““I too was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the Lord’s people in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them. Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. I was so obsessed with persecuting them that I even hunted them down in foreign cities. – Acts 26:9-11”
When Jesus met him on the Damascus road, He asked him, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” Anytime you are partaking in any activity that persecutes any member of the body of Christ, think about this – THAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY PERSECUTING THE LORD HIMSELF. Selah! Peace unto you.
GRACEFUL MORNING
