1 Corinthians 3:10, 12-13 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

We have previously seen the 1st dimension of our good works: Which is the WHAT=SCOPE/KIND of work we do; How each type of work has its own crown or reward – and there are 5 kinds of crown.

But that’s not all. There is also the HOW=QUALITY of work done. In the kingdom of God, it’s not enough that you preached the gospel or made disciples. It matters how you did it. Quality of work deals with how what you did fulfills the prescribed requirement or expected order. What means did you use to do it?

You may be asked to run a 100metre race. And you may have been the 1st to finish in a world record time, but if you run in the wrong lane, you will be disqualified and lose the reward. How are you building what you are building? What means are you using to do it? What materials are you building with?

Paul likens every good work we are doing here on Earth to a building. See it as every act or thing you do results in a certain spiritual building, but how you do it determines what materials you are building with. You are either building with:

Gold or Wood,

Silver or Hay,

Precious stones or stubble.

And each of these is an allegory that has a meaning scripturally. Wood,hay, and stubble will burn when passed through fire; whereas gold,silver, and precious stones will remain and not burn. Precious one, what materials are you building with? Selah!
