Jeremiah 17:9-10 AMP “The heart is deceitful above all things And it is extremely sick; Who can understand it fully and know its secret motives?  I, the Lord , search and examine the mind, I test the heart, To give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.

The UNTRANSFORMED mind, and the heart of the man without Christ is wicked and selfish. The AMPLIFIED Bible says, ‘it is extremely sick; Who can understand it fully and know its secret motives?’

This wickedness shows up in many things we do. Take even prayer for instance:

Pass by some prayer meetings and listen to the kind of prayers BELIEVERS pray. Some of them are full of selfishness and wrong motives: We care only about ourselves; everyone else should be destroyed. We want everyone not in alignment with US to be killed. We throw missiles and bombs at our relatives whom we consider as enemies. We don’t care about God’s agenda in their lives. We don’t care about God’s purpose on earth. It’s sad. But learn from Jesus – he never did that; he loved his enemies and asked us to do same. Don’t forget that we were once enemies of God – and if all enemies were killed we all would have been killed before being saved.

No wonder it seems as though God doesn’t answer prayer – because GOD REALLY DOESN’T ANSWER THESE SELFISH PRAYERS.

Examine your motives. Why do you want what you are praying for? How does it affect others? SEARCH YOUR OWN HEART BEFORE YOU COME TO GOD – for he always searches it. Be instructed. Your day is blessed.
