Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
The scripture in Matthew 7:7,8 is an interesting one. It says WHEN YOU ASK THE LORD SOMETHING IN PRAYER HE GIVES. But then WHAT HAS BEEN GIVEN MUST BE RECEIVED.
You must understand that TO BE GIVEN SOMETHING DOESN’T NECESSARILY MEAN YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE THING. When I write a cheque of GHS10,000 for you, I can say that I have given you GHS10,000 but you have not RECEIVED GHS10,000 until you take the steps to go to the bank and follow due process for that amount to be counted over the counter for you.
Infact you can be holding that cheque in your hand and still be crying and begging for breakfast. But do you realise that as far as I, the giver, am concerned, there is nothing more to be done because I have given you the money.
That’s what LAMBANO, the word used for receive in the New testament means – it means to ACTIVELY TAKE, to LAY HOLD ON, to SEIZE, to LAMBANO. It’s an active word, not a passive one.
That’s what the scriptures mean in 1 Timothy 6:12, for instance when it says,
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” It means eternal life might have been given to you but if you don’t take active steps to understand it’s function and seize upon it, you might live a life that doesn’t depict one who has eternal life. That’s why it’s a fight; A good one. In similar fashion, many spiritual blessings have been given you but you must learn to TAKE HOLD OF IT. Nobody is going to do this for you. You must rise up and LAMBANO it for yourself.
You have to learn to RECEIVE the answers to your prayers and all other blessings which God has given you in Christ. You have to TAKE A HOLD OF THEM. Don’t Rob yourself – Start taking hold of what is yours in Jesus name. Have a glorious day, friend. Hallelujah!
GRACEFUL MORNING
