Isaiah 56:10-11 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his own territory.

So what happens if the shepherd or leader is blind and/or leading the wrong way? Well, I see three things happening:

Either the Lord rescues you from there, OR, your eyes are opened to see where you are headed so as to change course, OR, you are doomed.

Jesus said,

..If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.– Matthew 15:14.

When Isaiah prophesied about these guides who mislead others, he said the reason is because ‘they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his own territory’

They are driven by the desire to build an empire for themselves. They are looking for their own gains and interests and that desire consumes them. All their teachings and structures and policies goes to feed this desire. It’s really sad.

Because of this, Isaiah says, they love to lie around and sleep and dream; they lack understanding as a result. Unless something changes, they will lead the Lord’s flock astray.

If you are a shepherd, check yourself that you are not operating like that. For very soon, the Lord will remove your lampstand from its place, and you would be found wanting. BEWARE SHEPHERD! BEWARE! Shalom!
