Genesis 11:1-2, 4-5 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.
Our drive to MAKE A NAME for ourselves will lead us to initiate and build projects that the Lord has not commanded.
It is this name-seeking and self-seeking that made the men of Shinar embark on building the Tower of Babel which God was not pleased with. They wanted to make a name for themselves. Wow!
Today, the church spends so much time, money and resources constructing buildings and embarking on projects which are nice to have, but which the Lord has probably not commanded. If we spent a fraction of that energy and resources on BUILDING PEOPLE INTO CHRIST we would have advanced God’s primary mandate a lot more.
Servant of God, Child of God, are you sure your Lord has commanded and commissioned that project you are so bent on doing? Or are you driven by the desire to make a name for yourself and for your organisation? Selah! Please think carefully about that.
If we will channel all our energy, time and resources on GOD’S PRIMARY PURPOSE OF PROJECTING CHRIST TO THE WORLD, we will be making significant kingdom impact for God than we are doing now.
CHRIST IS THE CENTRALITY OF OUR MANDATE, don’t make it into buildings and projects. Please KEEP THE MAIN THING, THE MAIN THING. Shalom!
GRACEFUL MORNING
