Before we got into God’s family, we were born into God’s Kingdom. We became CITIZENS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD. It means, YOU ARE NOT FROM HERE. You might be living in Ghana but your citizenship is in heaven. You really have to get this.
Ephesians 2:19
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, BUT FELLOWCITIZENS with the saints, and of the household of God;
It’s like you travelled to Nigeria to get some goods and you would return back home. People might see you in a Nigerian market and doing operations in Nigeria, but you are not a Nigerian. Likewise, YOUR TRUE CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN. You are born of God. And you are born of heaven. Let this mind be in you. Many people don’t know their own stories. Where did you come from and what is your story? That’s why we preach God’s Word to you always that you may become aware of your story(Read Eph 2:12-13).
Colosians 1:13 says, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”Listen dear one: Before God, there are only 2 citizenships. You are either a citizen of the KINGDOM OF DARKNESS or you are of the KINGDOM OF JESUS CHRIST. Anyone not born again is a citizen of the kingdom of darkness, no matter where you are staying(from Timbuktu to California). When you believed the Gospel of Christ, something happened. Your citizenship changed and you were TRANSLATED into the kingdom of Jesus Christ. You are God’s Child now and you have the green card of the kingdom of God. You are not a Ghanaian, you are a citizen of God’s Kingdom. Praise God Forevermore.
Now let’s settle this issue of our citizenship. Answer this:”As a child of God, are you from heaven (ie, heavenly) or you of the earth(earthy)?”
If your answer is that “you are of the earth” then your case is really miserable.”If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” – (1Cor 15:19)You really have to settle this in your heart because it’s the cause of a lot of problems; because many don’t know who they are and where they come from.We belong to a strong, righteous Nation, which is an heavenly.Our citizenship is in heaven (Phil 3:20). Now, if you say you are heavenly, then there should be no further debate whether you are still A Ghanaian, or An American, or A Togolese. None of these are in heaven. Why? YOUR HEAVENLY CITIZENSHIP ERASES ALL THE EARTHLY AFFILIATIONS YOU HAD.
Someone will say, “Yeah, we will go to heaven someday. But for now I am on earth and so I am Ghanaian”. Not so brother.Hebrews 12:22-23But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.
The text above says, WE HAVE COME TO MOUNT ZION. We are in Zion already.Did you not read Eph 2:6 that. “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly in Christ Jesus”We are seated together in the heavenlies NOW. Not when you die, but NOW. You are on earth but you are in Heaven in Christ as well. If this mind is really in you, there is no place for stealing and lying and killing and wrong marriages in order to gain a green card of a certain earthly nation. You don’t need it. You are a citizen of heaven and that supersedes all earthly connections.
Paul writes to the believers who are in Collose and who are in Christ. THE BELIEVER IS ALWAYS IN TWO SPHERES/PLACES AT ANY POINT IN TIME: in a certain physical place in this world, and also in Christ.Colossians 1:1-2Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, To the saints and faithful brethren IN CHRIST which are AT COLLOSSE: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
You might be in Tema, but you are in Christ; So you are in Christ in Tema. You are in Christ in Cape Coast. Carry that consciousness every time and every where you go. Christ is several things: It’s a person, personality, attitude, life…etc. But Christ is also a place.In this world, you might move from place to place but wherever you are, you are ALWAYS IN CHRIST – you don’t leave Christ. That’s why outward circumstances doesn’t affect the man or woman in Christ who knows where he is; there might be trouble where you are and people are worried and scared but you will be at Peace and have Joy within you. Why? In Christ there is always Peace and Joy. Be settled in Christ, beloved. Amen.
So now that we know we are risen together with Christ, and seated together with Christ in the heavenlies, what must we do?”If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. ” – Col 3:1-3The Apostle Paul tells us, SET YOUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE, NOT ON THINGS ON THE EARTH. That’s the secret. Let your focus, let your drive, let your life be centered on THIS CHRIST. You might be living here on earth, but your permanent citizenship is in heaven. And you are even seated there right now in Christ.Why is this? Because your other life that was a citizen of Ghana or America died when you got born again. And a new you came forth. This new you is heavenly in nature. YOU ARE FROM ABOVE, SISTER. SO PLEASE SET YOUR MIND THERE. Hallelujah!
